The Old Knowles Ranch is a sprawling, magnificent working cattle ranch located in the remote and scenic Western Chilcotin region of central British Columbia, some 100 miles west of the city of Williams Lake. With nearly 4,000 deeded acres, Crown Grazing and land leases totaling 677,220 acres, and adjacent big-game territory estimated to be 741,715 acres, the Old Knowles Ranch is a thriving livestock operation. Crown range permits allow for approximately 1,400 head of cattle, and the ranch is currently running under capacity at 800 head. Elevations at the ranch vary from 3,000 to 7,000 feet Flood-irrigated fields yield some 1,500 tons of hay with the potential to vastly increase arable lands for additional hay production. This secluded yet vast landholding is “off the grid”” and generates its electricity with a three-phase hydroelectric system with six miles of transmission lines to the main ranch.
